Patrizio Vellucci’s expressive research combines the manual skill of pictorial gestures and the pure aesthetic taste for reflection on nature.
In his personal cognitive path, paper becomes nol only the phvslcol support but also an integral part of a whole experience, visual as much as tactile.
The initial inspiration often comes from a simple juxtaposition of colours, from the delicate explosion of a Flower or from a play of lights on rocks. As in the Universal Flowering of Russian Analytical Realism, the painter refuses geometric simplifìcation of surfaces in order to unveil the hidden soul of the painted object, which becomes the subject and acquires a three-dimensional, almost metaphysical aspect. The iconic signifìer anticipates a melody constructed on the notes of colours, on the undulations of lines. One must acquire, in a graphic sense, the theoretical ideas deriving from poetic and literary metaphors: in these works we can notice O’Keeffe’s not so hidden references.
However, here the interpretation is more independent and based on an optical momentary perception, detaching from the virtuosity intrinsic in figure drawing and penetrating into territories dotted with lights typical of Monet and Henri-Edmond Cross.
The scientifìc analysis of the landscape is enriched with nuances of complexity where each brush stroke represents an accent in language, the harmonic sounds of a piece. In impressionist paintings, hues – and their changes- were the main characters of a style which identifìes masses rather than details. For romantic veduta style, the environment expresses the message.
In the artist’s works the accurancy toward the originai view forces the observer to enter on abstract and enchanting world where only inspiration and pure forms count: one gets lost in the blows-ups of a certain detail, used to give back life to a whole bushwood of sensations linking to the past.
In that moment, the apparent clarity of the scenes hides an emotion made of cool and warm hues, of vertical and curve lines, evoking collective ancestral memories.
